United Books Periodicals

We have been here at No. 7 Vishwadham in Prabhat Colony for quite a while now. If you know the Santacruz East area, you know how busy it gets near the railway station. Our shop is just right there, tucked away but easy to find if you are walking from the platform. It gets a bit dusty with all the people moving around, but we don’t mind it much. We deal with all sorts of books and periodicals every day. Sometimes people come in looking for a specific magazine they saw years ago, and we try to see if it’s buried somewhere in the back. The space isn't huge, so things tend to pile up on the counters and the floor. It is just how it is when you handle so much paper. Most days it is just us sorting through the new arrivals or chatting with the regulars who stop by after work. The fans hum overhead and the noise of the trains is always in the background. We don't really do anything fancy here. It’s mostly just moving boxes, answering the phone, and keeping track of what’s coming in next week. Santacruz has changed a lot over the years, but we’re still at the same spot near the station. People stop in for a quick look while they wait for their commute. It stays pretty busy, especially in the evenings when the sun starts going down and the station lights come on. We like the neighborhood.
