About Tilak Sangeet Vidyalaya – Education in Mumbai
You can find us at Anandalaya, which is house number 58 in Dadar West. Dadar is always bustling, and our street is no different. The building is an older style, which gives it a bit of character compared to the newer concrete blocks. We have rooms dedicated to the instruments and the singing. It is not soundproof, so you can often hear music drifting out into the hallway or even onto the street. We have some old wooden benches and chairs for people to sit on while they wait. The floors are worn in places from years of people coming through. We do not have a big sign with lights, just a simple name at the entrance. It gets quite busy in the late afternoons when the workday ends and people stop by. We have a lot of instruments around, and some of them are quite old and have been with us for years. There is a certain smell of old wood and incense that lingers in the air. We do not really have a big office staff or anything like that. Usually, it is just one of us handling the schedule and the keys. The windows stay open to let in the air, but that also brings in the sounds of the Dadar traffic. It is a lively place to be. We just focus on the notes and the practice. Most people who come here live nearby or take the train.
