We operate a small tiffin service based out of Bandra West. It’s not a massive operation with a fleet of trucks or anything like that. We started this because we noticed how many people in Bandra are too busy to cook a proper meal at home. We just use a small kitchen space and cook things the way we do for our own families. We don't have a fancy menu with exotic names. It’s mostly just dal, rice, rotis, and a couple of vegetable dishes that change every day. We focus on making sure the food isn't too oily or spicy, just like what you’d get at home. Our delivery guys use bicycles or small scooters to get around the Bandra lanes. Sometimes the food is a bit late if the traffic is bad or if it’s raining hard, but our customers are usually pretty understanding about it. We don't use any preservatives or frozen stuff. Everything is bought fresh from the market every morning. We keep track of our orders in a big old ledger book rather than using a complicated computer system. It’s a lot of work, especially with all the chopping and cleaning, but we enjoy the routine. We don't have any big mission statements. We just want to make sure people get a decent meal that fills them up. It’s honest work, and it feels good to see the empty tiffin boxes coming back at the end of the day.
