Telcon Construction Equipment Co Ltd. is up on the 11th floor of Sumer Plaza. You’ll find this building on Marol Maroshi Road in Andheri East. It’s a very busy spot, especially because we are directly opposite the Tirupati Hotel. Being on the 11th floor gives us a bit of distance from the noise of the Marol traffic, which is always heavy with buses and rickshaws. We deal with construction equipment, so our day is mostly about large-scale projects and the machinery needed for them. The office is a functional space where we handle the logistics and the planning. There are blueprints and schedules pinned up on the walls. It’s a corporate building, so there are elevators and a security desk at the bottom, but our own space feels like a working office where people are always on the move. We have been in Sumer Plaza for a while, and it’s a good location for reaching other parts of Mumbai. The Marol area is a hub for many companies, so there’s a constant energy around. We spend a lot of time on the phone with sites and operators. Even though we are high up in a plaza, the core of our business is very much about the dirt and steel of construction sites. It’s a lot of coordination to make sure everything is where it needs to be. We just keep the wheels turning from our desks here in Andheri every single day.
