Tea Centre Restaurant

At Tea Centre Restaurant, things move at a slightly different pace than the rest of Mumbai. We are located on C Road, just off Veer Nariman Road. It’s a part of town with a lot of history, and the building we are in reflects that. We have high ceilings and these old wooden tables that have been around for a long time. You can hear the kettles whistling in the back pretty much all day long. We spend a lot of time measuring out tea leaves and making sure the water is at the right temperature. It’s not a fancy modern cafe with loud music; it’s more of a place where you can actually hear yourself think. The windows look out toward the street, and you can watch the people walking by on their way to the offices or the sea. We get a lot of older folks who have been coming here for decades, along with students who need a quiet spot. The staff knows how to handle the heavy ceramic pots without burning themselves. Sometimes we run out of a specific type of tea leaf, and we have to tell the customers we’re sorry about that. The floor is made of old stone that stays relatively cool even when it’s boiling outside. It’s just a simple restaurant where tea is the main thing, and we try to keep it as steady and calm as possible for anyone who walks in off the street.
