Taiba Chinese Fast Food Corner

If you ever find yourself on Mumbai Vasana Road in Vadodara, you might see us. Taiba Chinese Fast Food Corner is where we spend our nights. It’s a bit of a weird address because people get confused by the Mumbai part of the name, but we are right here in Vadodara. The woks are usually going from late afternoon until very late at night. It’s loud and there’s always a bit of smoke in the air. We don’t have much in the way of decor. Just some chairs and the smell of soy sauce and garlic. Cooking Chinese food on a street corner is intense. You have to be fast or people get annoyed. We see a lot of students and guys coming home from work. They just want something hot and filling. We don't have a big menu with fancy descriptions. We just cook what we know how to make. Sometimes the supply of vegetables isn't great, so we make do with what we have on the day. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so if one of us is sick, the other works double. That's just how it is. We aren't trying to change the world. We just want to get the orders out and keep the stove clean. It’s a living. Most nights we are tired, but it feels okay when the work is finished. The road is always busy but we've gotten used to it.
