If you walk down Hosur Main Road towards the HDFC Bank, you’ll find us right across from it in Kikabhai Mansion. Super Metal Manufacturing Co has been operating out of this spot at 2/1, 7 C.P.Tank Huskar Gate for a long time. It’s a noisy place most days because of the machines running, but that’s just how metalwork goes. The building itself has seen better days, and the stairs up to the office can be a bit steep if you aren’t used to them. We spend most of our hours dealing with raw materials and trying to keep the workspace from getting too cluttered, though it’s a constant battle with all the scraps lying around. Being near Huskar Gate means there is always a lot of movement outside. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time parking on the main road, which can be a real headache during peak hours. Inside, the air usually smells like oil and cut iron. It’s not the cleanest job, and our hands are usually stained by the end of the shift. We don’t have a big reception area or anything like that. It’s mostly just the workshop floor and a small desk where we keep the paperwork. We just keep our heads down and get the orders done as they come in. It’s a practical way to earn a living, right here in the heart of the industrial stretch. The metal sheets get heavy, and by the evening, we are all pretty tired, but the work is steady.
