Sukantas Chinese Fast Food

Down in Charkop 4, you’ll find our small kitchen where we do Chinese fast food. It’s not the kind of place where you sit down for a fancy long dinner. We have a couple of tables, but most people just take their food and go. We have the big woks going with the fire turned up high, so it gets pretty hot inside. You can hear the scraping of the metal spatulas against the pans all evening long. We make noodles, fried rice, and the usual stuff people ask for when they want something quick and spicy. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us chopping vegetables and tossing the pans. Sometimes the order takes a bit longer if the stove is full, but we work as fast as we can. The menu is just a board on the wall with the prices written in chalk or marker. We get our supplies from the local market every day, so whatever we have is what we bought that morning. It’s a loud, busy corner of Charkop, and we fit right in. We don't have fancy uniforms, just aprons that get stained by the end of the shift. It’s honest work, and we like seeing the same neighbors coming back a few times a week for their dinner. Just simple food in a simple shop. We keep the napkins in a pile on the counter and the water jug filled up for everyone.
