Subway

We run this Subway branch over in Ghatkopar East. It is at the 41495 location. It is a fairly standard setup for this kind of place. I spend most of my day standing behind the glass counter, assembling orders as people come in. It is a lot of repetitive work, cutting bread and piling on the vegetables. We have a small team of three people who rotate shifts throughout the week. The morning shift is usually quiet, which gives us time to prep the lettuce and tomatoes. By lunch, there is usually a line out the door and things get a bit stressful. We try to work fast but sometimes the toaster oven takes its time. The air conditioning is a bit loud and sometimes drips, but it keeps the place cool during the heatwaves. We have some tables for people to sit at, but many prefer to take their food and go back to their desks. I like talking to the customers when it isn't too crowded. You meet all sorts of people in Ghatkopar. The floor needs a good scrub every couple of hours because people track in dust from the street outside. It is a straightforward job. We don't have much say in how things are run since it is a franchise, but we try to make it feel like a local spot. We just show up, put on the uniforms, and get to work.
