Subway

You can find us on the Link Road in Andheri West. If you know this area, you know how the traffic can get. It is pretty much constant noise outside from the cars and the rickshaws. Inside our Subway, it is a bit quieter, though the lunch rush changes that pretty fast. We spend our mornings baking the bread, so the whole place smells like it for a few hours. We have to keep the vegetables fresh and sliced up, which takes more time than people think. Working on Link Road means we see a lot of commuters and people heading to the malls nearby. It is a long counter we have here, and we just stand behind it and put sandwiches together all day. Sometimes we run out of a certain type of bread and have to explain it to people, which is always a bit awkward. The floor tiles are a bit worn down from everyone walking on them. We do not have a lot of space for sitting, but people make do. Andheri West is a big place, and this little spot on Link Road is where we spend most of our lives. We just focus on the task at hand, making sure the lettuce is crisp and the sauces are filled up. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late at night. We just try to get through the rush without making too many mistakes on the orders.
