Being right near the depot means there is always a lot of movement and noise around us, but we have gotten used to it. In fact, I think we would find it too quiet if we were anywhere else. Dharavi is a place where everyone is working hard, and we are no different. Our space in the Depot House is where all the action happens. It is a bit of a maze to get here if you aren't familiar with the area, but once you know the way, it’s easy. Santosh is here most days, managing the flow of work and making sure nothing gets missed. We have a small team and we all know what our jobs are. It is a busy atmosphere, with people coming and going and the sound of buses in the distance. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just a couple of strong fans that keep the air moving. It gets hot and it gets dusty, but that is part of being in the heart of Dharavi. We take our breaks when we can and usually share a meal together in the afternoon. It is a tough environment sometimes, but there is a lot of life here. We just keep working away, one day at a time, until the sun goes down and it’s time to head out.
