My work is mostly done from my place at the Sarvodaya Staff Quarters in Ghatkopar East. It is a quiet residential area and I have been in this unit, number 1/114, for a long time. Being on the 2nd cross makes it a bit removed from the main road noise, which is nice. It is not a professional office building with a reception or anything like that. It is just a simple room where I keep my files and do my daily work. Most of the people who live around here are families who have been here for generations. Sometimes the kids are playing outside in the common area and you can hear them through the window while I'm on a call. I handle a lot of my own scheduling and paperwork myself. It can be a bit slow some days, and on other days I feel like I am falling behind. I usually have tea in the afternoon while looking over the ledgers. The quarters are a bit old now, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like home to me. I don't really go for fancy setups or expensive furniture. Just a sturdy desk and a good chair are enough for the hours I spend here. People who need to see me usually just drop by after giving me a quick ring on the phone first. It’s a very local way of doing things.
