We run Sri Dhanalakshmi Agency from Kalina in Santacruz East. Being in Mumbai, space is always a bit tight, but we make it work. Our office is in a spot that’s easy enough to find if you know the Kalina area well. It’s a busy neighborhood with a lot of people moving around all the time. Most days start with us opening up the shutters and letting some air in. We have a few desks pushed against the walls and shelves full of folders and ledgers. It is a very hands-on kind of place. We don’t have a receptionist or anything like that; usually, whoever is closest to the door just says hello. The fans hum all day long to keep the heat away. Santacruz East has its own vibe, a bit dusty and crowded, but it feels like home to us. We know the shopkeepers nearby and often stop for a chat when we go out for water or snacks. There is a lot of paperwork to handle, so most of the time is spent reading through things or talking on the phone. It isn’t a high-tech setup with glowing lights or modern furniture. It is just a practical office where the work gets done. We like being in this part of the city because everything we need is right around the corner.
