We are tucked away in Maganlal House, right behind the Metro Showroom in Malad. It’s not the easiest place to find if you’re not looking for it, but once you get behind the main road noise, it’s a bit quieter here. S.V. Road is always a mess with traffic, so we usually just stay inside and get to work. The shop isn't very big, and we have piles of fabric sitting in the corners because there’s never enough shelf space. My morning starts with opening the shutters and sweeping out the dust that blows in from the street. We’ve been at this for some years now, just handling the daily orders and making sure things are ready for whoever walks through the door. The tea guy from around the corner comes by twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a break. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, especially when the iron is running, but we have a couple of fans that do their job. We don’t really do any fancy advertisements or anything like that. Most people just know us from being in the neighborhood. The shelves are packed with different materials and finished pieces, and sometimes it feels a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is. It’s just a normal workplace with real people trying to make a living in the middle of Malad's hustle. We see the same faces every week and that's fine by us.
