Snadeep Kirana Store

The store is located over at Sarginarga near the Mysore Road Circle, in unit C-3. It’s a typical kirana shop, so we’re surrounded by bags of rice, pulses, and rows of soaps and spices. Every morning starts the same way, opening the shutters early to catch the people heading to work. The Mysore Road area is always noisy with buses and trucks, but you get used to the sound after a while. We know most of the families around here. They come in for their daily milk or to pick up some sugar and oil for dinner. The shelves are always a bit of a mess because people move things around, but we know where everything is. It’s not a supermarket where everything is perfectly lined up. It’s a bit dusty and the space is tight, especially when we get a delivery of flour bags. We spend a lot of time weighing out items for customers who only want a small amount of something. It’s a lot of standing on your feet all day and chatting with the neighbors. Sometimes the kids come in for a single piece of candy and stay to talk. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just know we’re here at the circle. It’s honest work, and even though it gets tiring, it’s good to be part of the local community. We just keep the stock replenished and make sure the scale is working.
