Simmi Industrial Machinery Mfg. Corporation is located in unit 103 of the Hind Saurashtra Industrial Estate. We are right on the Andheri Kurla Road, near Marol Naka. If you know Mumbai, you know how packed this area is. Getting to the estate in the morning is a bit of a struggle with all the rickshaws and buses. Our unit is one of many in this big complex. We manufacture different kinds of industrial machinery here. It’s a lot of heavy metal and loud noises throughout the shift. The space is tight, so we have to arrange the machines very carefully to make room for the staff to move around. It gets pretty hot inside, especially in the afternoons, so we have a few big fans going all the time. We aren't a big corporation despite the name; it’s more of a hands-on manufacturing setup. Most of our day is spent looking at blueprints and operating the drills and grinders. We have a small office area tucked in the corner where the paperwork stays, but most of the action is on the shop floor. We've been at Marol Naka for years, seeing the metro being built and the whole area changing. It’s a gritty place to work, but we are used to the grease and the noise. We just focus on building the machines and getting them shipped out to the people who ordered them, week after week.
