Shri Shashikant Ramappa Kunder

Our place is over at Shekar Niwas on Pannalal Ghosh Road in Fort. If you know the Fort area, you know it’s full of these old, sturdy buildings with high ceilings and heavy doors. Shri Shashikant Ramappa Kunder is the full name we use for all the official stuff, but people mostly just call and ask for Shashikant. We are on the second floor. The stairs are a bit steep, so I always tell people to take their time coming up. The office has been here for a long time. You can see it in the way the floorboards are worn down near the desks. It’s a very busy part of Mumbai, especially with all the offices and the courts nearby, so there is always a sense of hurry in the streets. Inside, we try to keep things a bit more relaxed, though that’s hard when the phone starts ringing. We don't do much in the way of fancy tech; we still use a lot of paper and physical ledgers because that’s what we are comfortable with. It gets a bit dusty with all the old files, but it’s a good place to work. I usually have my lunch at the desk while looking out at the other buildings. We don't have a mission statement or anything like that. We just help the people who walk through the door and try to be honest about what we can do for them today.
