Our business, Shree Siddhivinayak Lonchi, is located on Mahalaxmi Bhatar Road at units 4 and 5. We are all about pickles here. As soon as you get close to our place, you’ll smell the vinegar, oil, and chili powder. It’s a very strong scent that we don't even notice anymore, but visitors always mention it. We do a lot of the work by hand, from washing the fruits to mixing in the spices in big ceramic jars. It’s a slow process, but that’s just how it’s done. The floors are often a bit slick, so we have to be careful when we’re moving things around. We don't have a big marketing budget or a fancy office. It’s just a workshop where we make the pickles and a small counter where we sell them. We rely on people liking the taste and telling their friends about us. During the summer, when the mangoes are ready, it gets incredibly busy and we are working all hours. My hands are usually a bit yellow from the turmeric, and the work can be quite tiring on the back. We try to keep things as traditional as possible. It’s a noisy road outside with a lot of dust, so we make sure everything is sealed up tight. We aren't a big corporation, just a small local team making pickles the way they should be made. It’s a lot of effort, but we’ve been at it for years.
