Shree Sambhavnath Trading Co

Being in Kalbadevi and Oshiwara means you are always in the middle of a crowd. Our place, Shree Sambhavnath Trading Co, is at 46/48, and it’s a busy spot. If you’ve ever walked these streets, you know the sound of the trucks and the handcarts never really stops. We deal with a lot of heavy lifting and moving boxes around. My shirt is usually dusty by noon. We’ve been operating out of this address for a long time. It isn't a place with glass windows or air conditioning. It’s a working warehouse and office where the phone rings and people are always asking about prices or when the next delivery is coming in. I have two guys who help me with the loading. We drink a lot of tea from the stall across the street just to stay awake during the slow afternoon hours. Sometimes the traffic in Kalbadevi is so bad that nothing moves for an hour, and we just stand by the door and talk to the neighbors. It’s a lot of work, keeping track of everything that comes in and goes out. We don’t do things in a fancy way. We use paper ledgers and we know our customers by their faces, not just an ID number. It’s a hard place to work because of the heat and the noise, but it’s home for us and it keeps our families fed every year.
