Anil Traders

Our little spot for Anil Traders is on the 2nd Floor of Gajanan Smruti. It’s No. 5, right there on 1st Road in Chembur. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but it keeps us moving. Being on the 2nd floor means we can look down at the street and see all the chaos of Chembur below. It’s a tight space, packed with ledgers and samples of whatever we are trading at the moment. We don’t have a lobby or a waiting room. Usually, guests just pull up a plastic chair next to one of our desks. The ceiling fan wobbles a bit, but it does the job. We spend a lot of time on the phone, talking to people across the city, trying to coordinate things. It’s not a glamorous corporate life, but it suits us just fine. Sometimes we stay late when the paperwork piles up, watching the lights come on in the buildings across the street. We’ve been at Plot No. 19/A for a good while, and most of the other shop owners nearby know us by name. We get our coffee from the place downstairs, and we usually know what the daily special is without asking. It’s a practical way to run a business. We don’t use big words or have fancy meetings. We just trade what needs to be traded and keep the books balanced as best as we can every week.
