We are located right in the Central Railway Colony in Kurla East. If you know Mumbai, you know Kurla is always moving. It’s loud, crowded, and there is always something happening. Our office is at Rb/Ii/95/3. It’s an old building, very typical for the railway colony area. We’ve been trading here for years. It’s not a big setup. We have a couple of desks, a few filing cabinets that have seen better days, and a phone that doesn’t stop ringing. Trading is mostly about talking to people and keeping track of who needs what. We handle various goods, whatever the market is looking for at the time. Most of us take the local train to get here, which is an experience in itself every morning. The monsoons are the hardest part because the tracks nearby sometimes get flooded, and then everything slows down. But we still show up. We have tea from the stall just outside the colony gate twice a day. It’s the best way to catch up on what’s happening in the neighborhood. We don’t spend money on advertising or anything like that. Word of mouth has always been enough for us. People know where we are. They know we’ve been here a long time and we aren’t going anywhere. It’s a basic business, really. We buy things, we sell things, and we try to keep everyone happy in the process. It is what it is, and we just keep the business running.
