Shailesh Contractor

I’ve been running Shailesh Contractor from Room No 2 in Poojari Chawl for a while now. It’s right here in Kandivali East, on Chakla Street. If you know the area, we are quite close to the big Mahindra company gate. The shop isn’t much to look at, just a basic space where we keep our tools and take calls. Most days involve a lot of dust and running around to different sites. We handle basic construction and repair work that people in the neighborhood need. It's usually just me and a few guys I trust to get the job done properly. We don't have a big office or fancy brochures. People mostly find us by word of mouth or by just walking past the chawl. Work starts early and ends whenever the light goes. Sometimes things get delayed because of rain or materials not showing up on time, but that’s just how it goes in this business. We try to keep things simple. If someone needs a wall fixed or some tiling done, they come find me here. It's a busy part of town so there's always something happening outside the door. We've seen the area change a lot over the years, but we’re still here doing the same kind of work every day. It's honest labor and it keeps us busy enough. The room is cramped with supplies, but we know where everything is. Just a local business trying to make a living.
