Santosh Hande

Santosh Hande is based at the Romel Co-Op Housing Society. It’s right on Jaybhavani Mata Marg in Amboli, which most people know is a busy part of Andheri. If you are coming from the main road, it is easy to miss the turn into Ramesh Nagar because the traffic gets heavy around here in the evenings. We are on the second floor, room 210. It is not a big office or anything like that, just a plain space where I keep my things and get through the daily paperwork. Most days it is just me and maybe one other person helping out. The building is one of those typical Mumbai societies where everyone knows everyone’s business. Sometimes the lift acts up, so I usually just take the stairs since it is only two floors up. I started this because I needed a spot that wasn't just my kitchen table. It’s a bit noisy outside with the rickshaws and the local shops nearby, but once you close the door, it is quiet enough to think. I don't have a big sign outside or anything fancy. Just the name on the door and a lot of files inside. People usually find me by word of mouth or if they live around the Ramesh Nagar area. It’s a practical setup for the kind of work I do. Nothing more, nothing less. I like the routine of coming here every morning and setting up for the day ahead.
