Sankalpan Architects Pvt. Ltd.

Our office is over in Ghatkopar East, in the Vijay Building. It’s on V.B. Lane, which can get pretty crowded during the day. We are up on the fifth floor in B-504. Sankalpan Architects Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of this space for a good bit of time now. It’s a typical Mumbai office setup where everyone knows each other. We do architectural work, mostly focusing on how to make buildings actually function for the people living in them. It is not just about how it looks on a computer screen. We spend a lot of hours looking at blueprints and fixing small details that others might miss. Ghatkopar is a lively area and being here keeps us close to a lot of our projects. Sometimes the lift in the building is slow, so we end up waiting around, but that’s just life here. We aren't trying to be some fancy high-end firm that nobody can talk to. We’re just regular people who happen to be good at planning buildings. People walk in with an idea, and we try to put it on paper. Sometimes it works out exactly as planned, and other times we have to adjust because of the site conditions. We deal with the contractors and the workers a lot. It’s practical work. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit from our window over the years. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
