If you’re looking for Sandip Soparrkar S Ballroom Studio, we are over in Mulund East, near Thaltej. It’s a space where we spend most of our time teaching people how to move. Ballroom dancing might seem fancy to some, but here it’s just about getting the steps right and having a bit of fun. The studio isn't overly decorated; it’s got good floors and enough room for everyone to spread out. We get all sorts of people coming through the doors. Some are preparing for a wedding, while others just want a new hobby to get them out of the house. We don't put on any airs here. We just put on the music and start with the basics. It takes a lot of practice to get the footwork down, and we see plenty of people tripping over themselves at first, which is totally normal. Our instructors are just regular dancers who enjoy what they do. They’ll show you a move, then you try it, then we do it again. It’s a repetitive process but that’s how you learn. The neighborhood in Mulund East is pretty active, so we see a lot of locals dropping by after work. We aren't trying to be some elite club. It’s just a place to learn some ballroom styles and meet some neighbors. We keep the atmosphere relaxed because nobody learns well when they’re feeling stiff or nervous. It is just about the music and the movement.
