Sagar Tools

Sagar Tools is tucked away on the second floor of Toy House, which is in the Laxmi Vishnu Market area on Dwarkadas Cross Lane. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs, but once you get here, you’ll see we’ve made good use of the space at B 2. The market is always full of life and noise, which filters up to us throughout the day. We deal mostly in tools, and our shop is pretty much just rows of shelves and bins. It’s not the easiest place to find if you’re not looking for it, but we have our regular customers who have been coming up these stairs for years. Being on the second floor means we don’t get as much foot traffic as the shops on the ground, but it gives us a bit more room to organize our stock. The light isn't great in some corners of the shop, so we use some extra lamps when we’re counting inventory. We spend a lot of time on the phone talking to suppliers or writing out receipts by hand. It’s a very manual way of doing things, but it works for us. The building has a lot of history, and you can feel it in the walls. We just focus on keeping the tools sorted and making sure we have what people ask for when they make the trip up to see us. It gets a bit hot in the summer since we are so high up, but we just keep the windows open to catch any breeze.
