Ruchi Fast Food

Ruchi Fast Food is tucked away in Masjid Bunder West at number 31. The area is famous for being incredibly crowded and narrow, and our shop is no different. It’s a small space where we do all the cooking and serving. The heat from the stove makes the place very warm, especially in the summer months. We have a couple of small benches for people to sit, but most customers just stand and eat quickly before heading back to work in the markets. We start early in the morning, chopping vegetables and getting the batters ready. The sound of the heavy traffic and porters shouting outside is constant. Masjid Bunder West 31 is a place that never really stops moving. We use large stainless steel pots for the gravies and a big flat griddle for everything else. The walls have some tiles that we scrub every night, but the grease still finds its way into the corners. It’s a noisy, hectic environment, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We don't offer anything fancy, just standard food that people can afford. Our family runs the place, and we take turns at the counter and the stove. The floor is stone and gets quite slippery, so we have to be careful. It’s a tough spot to work in, but it’s a living. We keep our supplies in a small loft above the kitchen area to save some space.
