If you walk down Poisor Gymkhana Road 9 in Kandivali West, you will probably hear us before you see us. Royal Trinity School Of Music is usually filled with the sound of someone trying to get a piano scale right or a student learning their first chords on a guitar. It can get pretty noisy in Mahavir Nagar during the peak hours after school lets out. We have been in this spot for a while, and the walls are covered with old music sheets and notes we’ve scribbled down. It is not a shiny, corporate environment. There are instruments leaning against the walls and chairs tucked into corners wherever they fit. Most of the kids come in with their heavy bags, looking a bit tired but ready to play. Sometimes the older folks stop by too, wanting to pick up a hobby they forgot about years ago. The heat in Mumbai can make the practice rooms a bit stuffy, but we keep the fans going and just focus on the music. We spend a lot of time talking about rhythm and how to hold a violin properly. It is just a place for people who want to learn how to play something. We don't have fancy lobbies or anything like that. People just show up, take their instruments out of the cases, and we get to work. It is a simple life centered around the sounds of the neighborhood.
