Rexnord Electronics & Controls Ltd.

We’ve been here at 92-D in the Charkop industrial area for quite some time now. Kandivli West has changed a lot since Rexnord Electronics & Controls Ltd. first opened its doors, but our day-to-day work stays pretty much the same. Most mornings start with the sound of the shutters going up and the staff trickling in from the station. It gets pretty humid in this part of Mumbai, especially in the afternoons when the machines are all running. We spend most of our time dealing with circuit boards and control panels, making sure everything is put together right before it goes out. The tea guy comes around twice a day, which is usually when we take a breather and talk about the weekend or the local cricket scores. It's a busy spot here in the Govt. Industrial Estate. There are always trucks moving in the narrow lanes and people rushing about. We aren't a big fancy office with glass walls or anything. It’s just a practical workspace where we get things done. Some of the desks have been here as long as the managers have. We keep our tools organized, more or less, and try to stay on top of the orders coming in. It’s honest work. Sometimes the power flutters or the rain makes the roof noisy, but we just keep at it. People know us around here because we’ve been part of this neighborhood for years. We just focus on the electronics and try to go home on time.
