Ratnagiri Coastal Cuisine

We started this place because we really missed the food from the coast. It’s located up on the third floor of the M D P Market on Betappa Lane, just off Military Raod here in Bangalore. It isn't the easiest spot to find if you're not looking for it, but we like it that way. Most people find us by wandering through C T Street. The kitchen gets pretty busy, especially around lunch time. We focus on the kind of meals we grew up eating. It’s nothing fancy, just wooden tables and the smell of spices. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so you might have to take the stairs. My brother and I run the front, and we have a small crew in the back who have been with us since the day we opened. We don't really do much advertising. Most of our regulars are folks who work in the market or nearby offices. We try to keep things simple and consistent every day. The menu stays mostly the same because that's what people expect when they come up here. If you are coming for the first time, look for the sign near the stairwell. It can get a bit loud when the market is in full swing, but it feels like home to us. We just serve the food we know how to make well without adding any extra fluff or trying to be something we aren't. We've been here a few years now and the walls could use a scrub.
