If you’ve ever been to Kalbadevi, you know it’s one of the busiest places you can find. Our shop is at 300, right opposite the Jumma Masjid. You can hear the calls to prayer and the constant honking of the taxis outside. It’s a small space, but we pack it full of clothes. We have sarees, dresses, and all sorts of colorful things hanging from the ceiling and stacked on the shelves. That’s why we called it Rangeela. It’s usually quite crowded, especially in the afternoons. We don't have fancy dressing rooms or a lounge. It’s more about finding something you like in the middle of all the stacks. My sisters and I run the place, so it’s a family thing. We spend the day unfolding fabric and then folding it back up again. People come in looking for something for a wedding or just something new to wear. We talk a lot with the customers, sometimes about the clothes and sometimes just about the neighborhood. It’s hot and noisy, but we like being in the heart of the market. Sometimes the electricity flickers when it’s raining hard. We just keep the doors open and wait for the next person to walk in. It’s been this way for years. We aren't trying to be a big mall store. We are just a local shop in a very busy street with plenty of character.
