Ram Dance Academy is located in Bhandup West, right on the Bakola Police Station Road. We are at F 154, and you can usually hear the music from the street before you see the door. I started this because I just liked dancing and wanted a place for the local kids to learn. The floor is made of wood and we have some big mirrors on the walls so everyone can see what they're doing. It gets pretty sweaty in there during the summer, but we have a few fans going. We teach all sorts of styles, mostly what the students ask for. Some want Bollywood, some want more traditional stuff. It's not a super strict place. We want people to enjoy themselves while they move. Sometimes the little kids get a bit rowdy, but that’s just part of it. We have classes in the evenings mostly because that’s when everyone is free from school or work. Parents usually hang out on the benches outside while the sessions are going on. It’s a small community here. We aren't training professionals for movies or anything, just helping people have some fun and stay active. The road near the police station can get a bit blocked with traffic, so we tell people to come a few minutes early. It's a simple studio but it works for us. We just keep the music playing and the energy high every single evening.
