We are based in the Byculla Fruit Market, specifically at Shop No F/17. If you know the market, you know it’s a chaotic place, especially early in the morning when the trucks start arriving. We supply all kinds of fruits to different sellers and sometimes directly to businesses. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we’ve been at this spot for a long time. Our day starts while most people are still sleeping. We have to check the quality of the crates coming in from the farms. Sometimes the fruit is great, other times it’s not so good, and we have to sort through it all. It’s a lot of lifting and moving boxes around. The shop isn't much more than a space to stack fruit and a small area to sit and do the accounts. We deal with seasonal stuff, so the inventory changes every few months. Right now it might be mangoes, and later it will be something else. The market is loud, crowded, and wet sometimes, but that’s just how it is here. We don't use any fancy systems, just our notebooks and our experience. People come by, check the produce, and we negotiate a price. It’s honest work and keeps us busy from dawn until the afternoon. We’ve built good relationships with the other vendors around us over the years. It's just a regular life in the fruit trade and we've been here for many years now.
