We’ve been running things out of the Dattani Center in Kandivali East for quite some time now. We are at number 11, which is pretty close to Sandeep Hotel. If you know that hotel, you can’t really miss us. It’s a busy part of the neighborhood, and there’s always someone looking for a parking spot or a quick tea. Our shop is packed with inventory from floor to ceiling. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped because we try to keep a lot of stock on hand. We deal in various trading items, mostly stuff for local shops and contractors. The phone rings pretty much all day with people asking about prices or if we have something in stock. We don’t have a big corporate team; it’s just a few of us managing the counter and the registers. The desks are usually covered in invoices and tea coasters. We try to be practical about things. If someone needs a particular item, we go look for it in the stacks. Sometimes it takes a minute to find, but we usually have it hidden away somewhere. It’s a lot of back-and-forth with suppliers and customers. We don’t put on any acts here. It’s just a regular trading business where we try to keep things moving and make sure the accounts are settled at the end of the day so we can go home and do it all again tomorrow.
