We have been sitting here at Indira Niwas for quite some time now. Kurla West is always busy, especially along LBS Marg where the noise never really stops. Our office is just at 157/2, and most days we are just busy keeping up with whoever walks through the door looking for a place to stay or sell. It’s a lot of talking and showing people around the neighborhood. We know these streets well because we spend all our time here. Sometimes the traffic is a nightmare right outside our window near Shivneri Hotel, but that is just how it is in Mumbai. You get used to the sound of horns and people shouting. We don’t have any fancy setup, just some desks and chairs and a lot of files. Most of our work is just connecting people who need a house with people who have one. It’s simple work but it takes up the whole day. We see families coming in nervous about moving and landlords who have been around as long as we have. We try to keep things honest because this is a small community in many ways. You can usually find one of us here from morning until late evening, usually with a cup of tea. It is not a flashy business but it keeps us busy and we like the people we meet. If you are ever near Ramanjanaya Layout, you will probably see our sign.
