R K Darbar

R K Darbar is located in the Sakinaka area of Mumbai. If you know Mumbai, you know how crowded and hectic Sakinaka can get at any time of the day. Our place is right in the thick of it. It is a basic setup with some benches and tables where people can sit down for a bit. The ceiling fan wobbles a little when it is on high speed, but it keeps the air moving. We serve a lot of different people, from laborers to office workers who are just looking for a filling meal. The kitchen is visible from the seating area, so you can hear the sounds of the pots clanking and the water running. It isn't a quiet place by any means, with the sound of horns and engines coming in from the street constantly. We go through a lot of onions and potatoes every day, and the prep work takes up a big chunk of our morning. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls, just a calendar and maybe a clock that is a few minutes slow. Dealing with the Mumbai heat and the humidity is just part of the job here. We keep the water jars filled and make sure everyone has a place to sit. It is a simple, hardworking environment where we just focus on the task at hand and try to get through the day. The lights are a bit yellow, giving the place a tired but familiar feel.
