Property Bulls

Our office is right on the ground floor at Flat No G/2, which makes it easy for people to just wander in from the Santacruz West Main Market. It’s a very busy spot to be in, and the noise from the street is something you just get used to after a week. Across the way is the Saraswat Colony, which is much quieter, and sometimes I look over there and wish for a bit of that peace. Inside, the walls are mostly covered with maps of the local area and lists of places handwritten on bits of paper. There is always a stack of keys on the desk that we are trying to keep organized. It is not a corporate setup at all, just a couple of desks and some chairs that have seen better days. We spend most of the afternoon drinking tea and waiting for the phone to ring or for someone to stop by asking about a small shop or a flat nearby. The floor gets a bit muddy when it rains because everyone walks straight in from the market outside. We don’t have fancy software to track things, just a few thick ledgers where we write everything down. Dealing with landlords and tenants takes up most of our energy, and there is always some paperwork that needs sorting out. It is a simple life here in the middle of the market chaos, just doing what needs to be done.
