Pro-Tech Hardware Mart is right in the middle of the chaos at 41 Sarang Street in Khokha Bazar. If you’ve ever been to this market, you know it’s crowded, loud, and smells like metal and oil. Our shop is packed from floor to ceiling with hardware. We have drawers full of nuts, bolts, hinges, and things I sometimes forget we even have until someone asks for them. It’s a tight squeeze inside, especially when we have more than two people trying to browse at the same time. We’ve got boxes stacked in the corners and ladders leaning against the walls so we can reach the top shelves. There is no air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that do their best against the heat. Most of our day is spent climbing up and down those ladders or digging through bins to find a specific size of screw. It’s a bit messy, and there’s always dust on the counters, but that’s just the nature of a hardware store in a place like Khokha Bazar. We don't have a computer system for everything, so a lot of it is just knowing where things are by memory. We talk to a lot of contractors and DIY folks who are just looking for a quick fix for their projects. We don't do any fancy marketing; people just know we are here on the street. It's honest work and keeps us on our toes all day long.
