I work out of a space on the first floor in Borivali East. It is not a ground-floor shop, so people have to come up the stairs to find me. The building isn't very new, and the stairs are a bit steep. Being on the first floor means I don't have people just wandering in from the street constantly, which is nice for getting work done. The room has a couple of desks and a lot of folders. I handle a lot of the administrative side of things myself. Borivali East is always buzzing, and I can hear the rickshaws and the vegetable sellers from my window. It provides a bit of background noise while I'm typing or going through records. My name is on the door, but it’s a very low-key setup. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few minutes and I just have to sit there and wait. I keep a small kettle for making coffee when the afternoons get long. It’s just me here most of the time, though occasionally a helper comes by. I don't have a big staff or a fancy reception area. People usually call before they come over so I can make sure I'm not out running errands. It is just a practical way to run a business without too much overhead. I've been in this spot for a while, and it suits the kind of work I do. I usually stay until six or seven in the evening before heading home.
