Prabha

We are based in Dharavi. Prabha is the name we have used for years. Everyone knows how it is here in Dharavi, things are always moving and there is not a lot of extra room. We work out of a small place that we have made our own. It is where we do everything from morning until late at night. The streets outside are always narrow and filled with people going to work or kids playing. We do not have any big signs or fancy lights. People find us because they live nearby or heard about us from a neighbor. It is a community here. We do our work, whether it is making things or fixing things, and we do not make a big fuss about it. The noise from the leather workshops and the pots clinking is just part of the day. We drink chai with the other shop owners and talk about the news. It gets very hot under the roof when the sun is out, but we are used to it by now. My family has been in this area for a long time. We do not think about moving anywhere else. This is where our roots are. We just take one day at a time and try to do an honest job. There is no secret to it. Just showing up and being part of the neighborhood. Prabha is just us, doing what we know how to do in the heart of Dharavi.
