You can find us at Malabar Hill 49, which is a pretty well-known part of the city. We’ve been teaching music here for quite some time. The building is older, which actually helps with the sound sometimes. We have different rooms for different instruments, but on a busy day, you can hear a mix of piano, guitar, and maybe someone trying to learn the violin all at once. It’s a bit of a happy mess. We aren't a big corporate school with a lobby and a receptionist. Usually, it’s just one of us opening the door and getting the next student settled in. We have some old posters on the walls and a lot of sheet music piled up on the stands. Students of all ages come by, from little kids who can barely hold a flute to older folks who finally have time to learn the songs they like. It’s a comfortable place. We don’t worry too much about having the latest high-tech gadgets; we just care if the instruments are in tune. Sometimes we sit and have tea between lessons and talk about whatever new song someone is struggling with. Malabar Hill is a nice area to walk through, and we like being part of the neighborhood. It’s just a place where music happens every day, and that’s plenty for us. We just keep the doors open and the instruments ready for whoever wants to learn.
