Parathas

Our place, which we just call Parathas, is located at Nariman Point but also near LBS Marg in Ghatkopar West, right next to MVM. It is a bit of a strange spot but it works for us. We are basically a kitchen that serves food to hungry people throughout the day. We specialize in parathas, obviously. The kitchen is small and it gets very hot because we have the tavas going all the time. There is always the sound of dough being rolled out and the sizzle of oil. We don't have much of a dining area, just some basic seating for people who don't want to stand. It is a very functional space. We don't have waiters in uniforms or printed menus with photos. We just tell people what we have ready. Most of our customers are workers from the nearby offices or students who want something filling that doesn't cost too much. Sometimes we get really backed up during the lunch hour and people have to wait on the sidewalk. We try to move fast, but good food takes a bit of time to cook properly. It is a bit of a messy operation with flour everywhere on the counters, but that is part of the job. We are just a local food joint trying to feed the neighborhood without any of the corporate polish you see in the bigger restaurants downtown.
