Onaway Glass Works

Our business is on the 5th floor of Bhupati Chambers in Danda. It is right on the 2nd Main and conveniently opposite the railway station. Dealing with glass in such a busy area can be a bit of a challenge. We are always worried about things breaking when they are being moved up and down the stairs or the lift. The office is where we do the cutting and the planning. It is a bit cramped with all the sheets of glass leaning against the walls. Being near the station means it is always noisy with the trains and the crowds, but it makes it easy for people to find us. We make windows, mirrors, and all sorts of glass pieces for local homes and shops. It is a delicate job. One wrong move and you have a mess of shards on the floor. My hands have a few scars from the edges over the years. We are not a big corporation. It is just a few of us who know how to handle the material. We do not have a big marketing plan. We just do the work that comes in through the door. Some days we are fitting glass in a new building, other days we are just replacing a broken pane for a neighbor. It is a steady life and we have been in Bhupati Chambers for quite some time now. We enjoy the view of the tracks from the window. (257 words)
