About Divecha Glass Enterprises – Building & Construction Material in Mumbai
We are located at 344 Sophia Zubair Road, inside the Hirji Govindji Compound in Nagpada. If you know the area, you know it’s a bit of a maze with all the different businesses squeezed together. Our compound is old, and it has that specific smell of grease, old wood, and city air. We work with glass, which means we have to be a lot more careful than the guys next door who work with metal. One wrong move and you’ve got a mess that takes an hour to sweep up. The racks are full of different sheets—clear, frosted, thick, thin. I spend most of my day measuring things out and hoping my old tape measure doesn't snap. It’s usually pretty hot in the workshop, so we keep the fans going at full blast. We don't have a big sign or a fancy entrance. People usually find us by asking the neighbor or just following the sound of glass being scored. It’s a small operation, just a few of us who’ve been doing this for a long time. We know which crates are heavy and which ones need three people to carry. Lunch is usually eaten sitting on some wooden crates while we watch the rain or the traffic on the road outside. It’s not a quiet job, but we like the rhythm of it. Dealing with glass keeps you focused because you can't afford to be distracted for even a second.
