Om Chinese Fast Food

Our place is right on Link Road, where the noise from all the cars and motorbikes never really stops. Om Chinese Fast Food is just a small corner with some plastic tables for people to sit at. We have a big, heavy wok and a high-flame burner that makes a loud roaring sound you can hear from the sidewalk. We mostly cook the usual things like noodles and fried rice with whatever vegetables are fresh. There’s a lot of garlic and soy sauce involved in every dish we make. By the end of the night, the floors get pretty greasy, so we have to spend time scrubbing them down with soap. It’s tiring work after being on your feet all day. We don't wear uniforms, just regular clothes and an apron to protect against the oil splashes. Most of the people who eat here are young kids or office workers looking for a cheap, filling meal before they head home. We don't bother with advertising or handing out flyers. Usually, the smell of the cooking just brings people in. Sometimes the gas cylinder runs out right when we are busiest, and we just have to wait for the delivery guy. It’s annoying, but our regulars are patient. We’ve lived around here our whole lives, so we know the other shop owners. It’s a decent way to make a living, even if it means working long hours and dealing with the heat.
