Nisar Chinese Food

Down in Versova 1, things have a different feel. Nisar Chinese Food is tucked away there. You can usually hear the sea if the traffic is quiet enough, which isn't often. We aren't a big place. It's mostly just a counter and some burners. We’ve been here long enough that the local kids have grown up and now bring their own kids for a meal. It’s a bit messy sometimes, with the chopping and the sauces everywhere. We don't have a fancy kitchen. Everything happens right there in front of you. Versova is a busy area, lots of people walking around, and we just try to keep up. We use a lot of oil and a lot of heat. It gets really hot in the summer, almost too hot to stand near the flames, but you just get on with it. We don't have a website or a marketing person. If you like the food, you tell your friend. That’s the only way we grow. We try to keep the prices where people can afford them. It’s not about getting rich; it’s about staying busy. We close up late, usually when the streets finally start to empty out and the lights go dim. It’s a simple routine, day in and day out, making sure the rice is cooked and the veggies are cut. We don't ask for much, just a steady stream of people. It is what it is.
