Our shop is right near the fish market in Chembur East, at Shop No 1. It’s a lively place to be, that’s for sure. You can always hear the hustle and bustle from the market starting early in the morning. We’ve been here for a while, cooking for all kinds of local events. Being near the market is handy for getting what we need, though it gets very crowded. We mostly do traditional cooking. It’s the kind of food we grew up with and know how to make best. We don't have a massive menu with hundreds of items. We just stick to what we know people like. There are usually three or four of us in the kitchen at any given time. We spend hours peeling ginger, garlic, and onions. It’s a lot of manual work. We take orders for small parties, religious functions, or even just big family dinners. We don't really do the whole corporate catering thing. We prefer working with people from the neighborhood. It’s more personal that way. Sometimes we have to rush to get things done when a last-minute order comes in, but we usually manage. The shop isn't very big, so we have to be organized with our pots and pans. It’s a simple life, cooking and serving the folks around Chembur. We’ve known some of our customers since they were kids. It feels good to be a part of the local community here near the market.
