Navbharat Enterprises is tucked into 13-A of the Laxmi Industrial Estate. If you know Andheri West, you know how the New Link Road can get. It’s a constant stream of cars and people, and the energy usually stays high until late at night. Our spot in the estate is a bit more sheltered from the main road noise, but you still feel the vibration of the city. We’ve been here long enough that the walls have a few scuffs and the floor shows where the heavy lifting happens. It’s a working warehouse and office combined. We don't have a janitor who comes in every hour to polish the brass because we don't have any brass. It’s just steel, concrete, and cardboard boxes. The team here is a mix of old-timers and a couple of younger guys who are still learning the ropes. We usually have the radio playing softly in the background to break the silence during the afternoon slump. Getting things delivered on time is the main thing we worry about. Sometimes the rain makes the estate roads a bit of a mess, but we just put on our boots and keep moving. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s honest work and we’ve made a lot of friends in the neighboring units over the years. We share tools and stories over the fence sometimes when things are slow. It is just the reality of the daily grind.
