You can find us at 44/46, Popatwadi, right on the ground floor of the Mahavir Building. It’s a crowded spot near the India Art Studio on Kalbadevi Road. Being in Dava Bazaar means there is always a crowd outside and people rushing around with heavy carts. Navbharat Carbon Co. is tucked into a space that feels even older than the building itself. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to get around to it because there's always something else to do. We have stacks of boxes piled up near the entrance and the desk is usually buried under invoices and old newspapers. It’s a bit dark inside since the buildings are so close together in this part of town. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just keep working by the light from the doorway until it comes back on. We know the other shopkeepers in Mahavir Building pretty well. We see them every morning when we’re unlocking the gates. The traffic on Kalbadevi Road is famous for being a mess, so we don't usually leave the shop until it clears up a bit in the evening. It’s a busy life here in the heart of the bazaar. We handle carbon products mostly, and everything eventually gets a thin layer of grey dust on it. We just wipe it off and keep moving. It's just a regular workplace for us and we don't think much about it. It’s just how things are in Popatwadi.
