N R Machine Tools

Our shop, N R Machine Tools, is right on the Kurla Andheri Road near the Anand Bhavan Hotel. If you know this area, you know how loud it gets with all the trucks and people moving about constantly. We deal with machine tools all day long, which means there’s usually a bit of oil on the floor and some metal shavings near the back. It isn't a clean place, but it's where the actual work happens. My brother and I usually open up around nine in the morning, unless the traffic from Jarimari is especially bad that day. We have all sorts of cutters and drills tucked into these old wooden cabinets. Sometimes we spend half an hour just looking for one specific size of drill bit because things get moved around when we are busy. We usually grab lunch from the hotel nearby when we don't have time to go home. It's a lot of manual work, checking sizes and making sure the threads on a part are right before someone takes it. People from the small workshops around here come by when they break a tool mid-job. We don't really have a website or anything like that, just the shop front with the name painted on it. Most of our day is spent talking to mechanics or trying to fix the old fan that rattles in the corner. It’s a simple life, mostly surrounded by heavy iron and the smell of cutting fluid. We just keep doing what we do.
